With the transfer agreement with Sweden extended another season, the Calgary Flames have made it official – they’ve signed Swedish blueliner Johannes Kinnvall to a two year entry level contract. Kinnvall will remain with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League on loan for the 2020-21 season.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because it’s exactly what the Flames did to land Carl-Johan Lerby a year ago. (He spent the 2019-20 season with Malmo on a loan.)
Kinnvall, 22, came to development camp in July and looked good, standing out among the invitees. He finished second among SHL defenders in scoring in 2019-20, posting 11 goals and 40 points in 51 games.
