One last swap for the Calgary Flames on deadline day, friends. The club has sent seventh defender Brandon Davidson to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for future considerations.
Davidson is a pure “quad A” guy: too good for the AHL, maybe not quite good enough for full-time NHL duty. But he’s been a good soldier for the Stockton Heat and has been a healthy scratch lately as the Flames get a look at Alexander Yelesin on the third pairing.
Davidson wasn’t waived yesterday and can’t be assigned to the AHL today (since he’d need waivers), so he’s up in the NHL for the remainder of the season. The Sharks had a spot for him to try to prove he’s an NHLer, so the Flames wanted to give him that shot.
