A month before the return of hockey to the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Calgary Flames have announced their policy regarding attendance for the 2021-22 season. Per the club, they’re requiring fans that are eligible for vaccination (e.g., 12 and older) to be fully vaccinated to attend games.
Per the club:
Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC) will be implementing a COVID-19 vaccination policy that will require all fans (eligible to receive the vaccine), event staff and employees to be fully vaccinated for attendance at live events at the Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. We are targeting September 15th as the effective policy date.As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, CSEC believes this policy to be essential in delivering a safe environment for our fans and staff as well as an important measure to help our communities and businesses to continue reopening safely. We will monitor the situation and communicate required updates to ensure a safe environment for everyone visiting our facilities. We remain excited to have welcomed fans back to McMahon Stadium through the month of August and are eager to welcome fans to the Scotiabank Saddledome in September.Further details on the implementation of this policy will be provided in the coming weeks.
The Flames begin their pre-season home schedule on Sept. 26 when they host the Edmonton Oilers. Their regular season home schedule begins Oct. 18 when they host the Anaheim Ducks. The Calgary Hitmen open their regular season home schedule on Oct. 3 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The announcement puts the Flames in line with the policies already announced by the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs, and expected to be announced by the other Canadian clubs.
