The 2025-26 campaign for the Calgary Flames kicks off tomorrow night when they take on the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place!
Now is the perfect time to get the FlamesNation team – Ryan Pike, Ryley Delaney, Adrian Kiss, Paige Siewert, Flash Stevens, and myself — together for a roundtable to give some predictions for the 2024-25 season!
Let’s get started!

Flames specific predictions

Where will the Flames finish this season? Playoff spot, mushy middle, or bottom 10?

Adrian – Mushy middle.
Paige – For how close they were last year, I think they’ll find a way to earn a playoff spot this year.
Pike – They’ll be in the mushy middle. They’ll either make or miss the playoffs by less than three points.
Robert – Unfortunately the mushy middle. They aren’t good enough to be a playoff team. And Dustin Wolf will keep them out of the basement of the NHL standings.
Ryley – Probably in the mushy middle. Making the playoffs would be cool, finishing in the bottom 10 is what they should do, but there’s a strong chance they’re in the mushy middle.
Flash – I think they will be either in the playoffs as a 7/8 seed or just on the outside. If the offence gets a boost and Dustin Wolf improves, playoffs should be on the table for this veteran led group. Not guaranteed, but that’s the goal.

What will the Flames record be?

Adrian – 40-35-7 (87 points)
Paige – 46-25-11 (103 points)
Pike – 45-29-8 (98 points)
Robert – 38-34-10 (86 points)
Ryley – 38-36-8 (84 points)
Flash – Point range is 95-98 for my prediction. 96 last year had them 0 points out (lost on tiebreakers). The roster is essentially the same at the top so that result happening again should be the minimum standard.

Who will be the Flames leading point scorer?

Adrian – Nazem Kadri
Paige – Nazem Kadri
Pike – Nazem Kadri
Robert – Nazem Kadri with 61 points
Ryley – Nazem Kadri
Flash – Nazem Kadri

Who will be the Flames leading goal scorer?

Adrian – Matt Coronato
Paige – Matt Coronato
Pike – Matt Coronato
Robert – Nazem Kadri with 29 goals.
Ryley – Matt Coronato. Wicked release, I think he could score 35+ goals this season.
Flash – Matt Coronato, 35+ goals.

Which player will exceed expectations?

Adrian – Morgan Frost
Paige – Morgan Frost. I really liked what I saw out of him in preseason and he seems to be settled in now. I could see him being a standout player for the Flames now that he’ll get a full season.
Pike – Morgan Frost
Robert – Dustin Wolf will be even better than he was last season.
Ryley – Connor Zary, he’s going to have a breakout season.
Flash – I think Morgan Frost – with a full off-season here and some more time to build chemistry – will develop into that creative 2C everyone has been waiting for him to develop into.

Which player will not meet expectations/disappoint?

Adrian – Yegor Sharangovich
Paige – I could see a bit of a drop in Yegor Sharangovich’s game this year. I hope I’m wrong but it feels like he’s taken a bit of a step back.
Pike – Yegor Sharangovich
Robert – Connor Zary. I hope i’m wrong but I think his skating and lack of a defined role will hurt him this season.
Ryley – Dustin Wolf. It won’t be a huge sophomore slump, but I don’t think he’ll find the same success.
Flash – I think Yegor Sharangovich will once again fall short of that first year he had. It set the bar for him quite high. He’s at his best a 25 goal 50 point player, but with the depth on the wings and some young talent knocking if he’s not scoring early he could have limited opportunity to produce at the level his contract demands.

Will a Flames player be in contention for a major award at the end of the season? If you voted yes, which player and what major award?

Adrian – Zayne Parekh – Calder Trophy
Paige – Yes. I could make a case for two Flames awards. Zayne Parekh for the Calder Trophy and Dustin Wolf for the Vezina.
Pike – Dustin Wolf will get Vezina Trophy consideration once again.
Robert – Dustin Wolf – Vezina Trophy
Ryley – MacKenzie Weegar should be a consideration for the Norris every season, and this could be the year he is a runner up. Zayne Parekh will win the Calder Trophy.
Flash – Zayne Parekh – Calder Trophy. Dustin Wolf – Vezina Trophy.
