FN’s All-Time Greatest Flames Team: Harvey the Hound

The final member of the FlamesNation All-Time Flames Team is pretty obvious. He’s got seniority on the rest of the team. He’s suited up for more games than anybody else, even the great Jarome Iginla.
He’s also a six-foot-tall anthropomorphic dog.
The National Hockey League’s first official team mascot, Harvey the Hound, is the final member of our team.
GREATEST MOMENT(S)
LEGACY
Can you imagine the experience of a Calgary Flames home game without Harvey the Hound pounding on his drum, rallying the crowd in chants and cheers, and taking adorable pictures with infants? Harvey’s as much a part of the game experience as pocket dogs, fire shooting out after goals, and “Ring of Fire” playing after wins.
And because of how indelible Harvey is to the game experience, he’s as foundational a part of the franchise as the majority of the players who’ve ever suited up for the team. He was the NHL’s first official mascot, and probably the best one in the league three decades later.
