The Calgary Flames suffered a tough loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night by a score of 3-1. After a huge comeback win against the Dallas Stars and an overall solid month of November thus far, the hope was that the momentum would carry them through this game against the team at the top of the Central Division and get them to a win. However, that didn&#8217;t happen, and Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson said that he believed the result could have been better on another night for many reasons.

They already beat a very strong Dallas team, but the Avalanche are a different beast. Their two games over the next four days are against Dallas, who will want revenge after their loss, and the reigning Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights, so they will need to up their performance even more and bounce back from this loss.
It didn&#8217;t feel like the Flames necessarily played poorly over the course of the game against the Avalanche, which is a good thing. They won the shot battle but lost the expected goals battle, and if it weren&#8217;t for a couple of posts within the game, the scoreline could have been very different by the end of things. Andersson isn&#8217;t completely wrong in his assessment that on another night there could have been a point or two to come out of it, but at the end of the day, the Flames walked away with nothing.
If there&#8217;s one thing we will learn about the Flames from their upcoming schedule, it will be about the resilience they have during stretches of playing hard opponents. The teams they will be facing are the teams they will be facing in the playoffs, which is where everyone wants to be by the season&#8217;s end. They&#8217;re settling into their system now and tangibly have more chemistry.
However, the test of whether or not this roster will be good enough for the post-season is right now, so they have no time to lose, and the players know that.
