There&#8217;s no reason to believe this trend will slow down for the next little while, which is probably why two Flames players appear on <a href="https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/trade-targets-decision-time-looms-for-maple-leafs-and-mitch-marner">Frank Seravalli&#8217;s top 20 trade targets board a month before the 2024 NHL Draft</a>.

On paper, the Flames look to be entering the 2024-25 season with three NHL-experienced goaltenders on the docket: Markstrom, backup Dan Vladar (who&#8217;s working his way back from hip surgery) and waiver-exempt third-stringer Dustin Wolf. They have a year remaining on Wolf&#8217;s waiver exemption, but given how much Wolf&#8217;s accomplished in hockey since being drafted in 2019, it might be time to carve out a full-time NHL spot for him.
Here&#8217;s Seravalli on Mangiapane, who&#8217;s listed in 17th:

It also came in a summer when the Flames lost Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, so there was reason to make sure they kept him. Now? Mangiapane is one of three Flames wingers slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2025, along with Yegor Sharangovich and Andrei Kuzmenko. As Craig Conroy navigated throughout 2023-24, the Flames don&#8217;t seem to have a big appetite to let assets walk for free, so for that trio it may be a choice between re-upping with the Flames or finding themselves playing elsewhere before too long.
