It’s almost World Junior season, friends, and so that means we’re getting a bunch of roster news in the next while. The first big morsel is Hockey Canada’s selection camp roster, and Calgary Flames 2019 first round pick Jakob Pelletier has been invited to Canada’s camp.
Pelletier is one of 17 forwards invited to camp (they usually bring 13 to the tournament). He’s had a superb start to his season, with 18 goals and 48 points through his first 25 games. He’s presently third in the QMJHL in scoring.
Hockey Canada went with a 31 player camp roster, including four goalies, and went heavy with 2020 NHL Draft eligible talents. Likely first rounders Alexis Lafreniere, Jamie Drysdale, Braden Schneider, and Quinton Byfield are invited. No Calgary Hitmen players were invited, as both Jett Woo and Carson Focht failed to make the cut.
The World Juniors begin on Boxing Day in Trinec and Ostrava, Czech Republic.
