Bad news, folks: the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is on ice until Jan. 6.
But good news: Calgary Flames prospect Jeremie Poirier has been named that circuit’s Defenseman of the Month for November.
A defender for the Saint John Sea Dogs, Poirier was the Flames’ third round pick, 72nd overall, in October’s 2020 NHL Draft.
In November, Poirier had a pretty good month. He registered at least a point in six of Saint John’s seven games, accumulating four goals and 10 points in that span. His month included three multi-point games, including a hat trick in a Nov. 14 win over the Halifax Mooseheads. The Sea Dogs went 3-3-1 in November.
