Due to his size, Johnny Gaudreau was thought to be a long-shot to make the National Hockey League. In Sunday night’s game in New York City, Gaudreau generated his 300th career NHL point in the second period of his 320th career game.
Leaving Gaudreau unaccosted in front of the net is generally a bad idea.
Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Flames, Gaudreau was an offensively gifted but undersized winger in the United States Hockey League. Then he was an offensively gifted but undersized winger in the NCAA’s Hockey East Conference. Since 2014, he’s been an offensively gifted but undersized winger in the National Hockey League.
