The Calgary Flames are beginning this week in first place in the Western Conference and their captain has earned another accolade. Mark Giordano has been named the NHL’s first star of the past week.
The Flames went 4-0-0 over the past week and Giordano had points in all four games, with eight points in that span. Giordano, 35, is in the midst of his best offensive season of this career. Through 45 games, Giordano has nine goals and 47 points.
This is the third time this season that a Flames player has been named a weekly star, following Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan.
