Lucic was suspended for roughing (a.k.a. a sucker-punch against) Kole Sherwood during the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He got a double-minor for roughing on the play. Even though he&#8217;s been suspended before, Lucic did not qualify as a repeat offender since his last suspension was in 2016.
He&#8217;ll miss tonight&#8217;s game against the Capitals, as well as Tuesday&#8217;s game, when the Flames return from their five-game road trip and face the Arizona Coyotes. The Flames, already with limited options due to the cap constraint, will likely slot in Tobias Rieder, at least for tonight. They&#8217;re only other option is to dress Michael Stone and play with seven defenders.
Per CBA terms and his average annual salary, Lucic will forfeit $64,516.12. That money will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
