The 2026-27 National Hockey League season is already a month old.
This past week, the Edmonton Oilers separated themselves from the rest of the pack, but six of the seven other teams in the Pacific Division are within five points of a playoff spot, including the Calgary Flames.
Let’s take a look at how Pacific Division teams have performed since last Monday!

Anaheim Ducks

It wasn’t a great week for the Anaheim Ducks. On Tuesday, they fell 6-5 in overtime to the Vancouver Canucks, before dropping another barn burner two days later, falling 7-6 to the Buffalo Sabres. They salvaged their week with a victory on Sunday, defeating the Ottawa Senators 6-3 to move their season record to 6-7-1.
Entering this week, the Ducks are two points back of a playoff spot, but are 3-6-1 in their last 10. They’ll hit the road to play the three Canadian teams in the Pacific Division, taking on the Canucks on Tuesday, the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, and the Calgary Flames on Friday.

Calgary Flames

The Flames are a far better home team than they are a road team. Last Monday, they wrapped up their four-game home stand with a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. That was followed by a 4-0 loss to the Oilers on the road, but they rebounded with a 6-2 home win over the Seattle Kraken. Their final game of the week came against the Colorado Avalanche in Denver, falling 5-2 to move their season record to 6-8-0.
While they’re still in a rebuilding year, the last two weeks of Flames’ hockey has been solid. Since their first win of the season back on Oct. 13, the Flames are 6-3-0 and sit just three points out of the final wild card.
This week, they’ll take on the San Jose Sharks on Monday, then the Kraken on Wednesday. Afterwards, they return home to the Saddledome to host the Ducks on Friday and the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers’ great start to their season continued. Their lone loss this past week came last Monday, falling 4-3 in a shootout to the Detroit Red Wings. They responded with a pair of 4-0 victories over the Flames and New York Islanders, before defeating the New York Rangers 4-1 on Sunday to move their season record to 11-2-2.
As it stands, the Oilers sit alone at the top of the Western Conference with 24 points. Only one team, the defending Stanley Cup champions, have more points and a better point percentage than the Oilers.
This week, they’ll finish up their New York Metropolitan Area road trip, taking on the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Afterwards, they return home to host the Ducks on Thursday and the Canucks on Saturday.

Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings have finally started to play better, going 2-2-0 this past week. They picked up a 6-3 victory on the road against the New York Rangers, as well a 6-5 overtime home victory against the Ottawa Senators. They fell 2-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks and 3-2 to the Sabres.
After a 0-4-2 start to their season, the Kings are now 4-9-1 for 10 points. They’re still five points out of the final wild card spot, but are 4-5-1 over their last 10 games.
They begin a five-game home stand this week, but only play twice between Monday and Sunday. On Wednesday, they host the Sharks, followed by a match-up against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks had a solid 2025-26 season, looking as if they were going to get out of this rebuild. They’ve continued that momentum, but had a tough week. This past week, they fell 2-0 to the Sabres and 5-1 to the Senators, picking up a 3-2 victory against the Canucks between the two losses.
They’re still in striking distance of the final wild card spot thanks to a 7-7-1 record. In fact, their 15 points are tied with the St. Louis Blues for the final spot.
It’s a busy week for the Sharks, as they host the Flames on Monday, before hitting the road to take on the Kings on Wednesday, the Minnesota Wild on Friday, and the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

Seattle Kraken

One of the biggest surprises this season have been the Seattle Kraken, who currently occupy the third spot in the Pacific Division. They only played two games this past week, defeating the Maple Leafs 5-4, but falling 6-2 to the Flames.
This was the first of four consecutive weeks where they’ll play just two games. This week, they host the Flames on Wednesday, the fourth match-up in a little over a month, and also host the Rangers on Saturday. They’ll have four days off after that, as they head to Europe to take on the Hurricanes in this year’s Global Series.

Vancouver Canucks

This past Tuesday, the Canucks finally snapped their losing streak, defeating the Ducks 6-5 in overtime to finally pick up their first win since Oct. 3. While their 10-game losing streak was snapped with a win, they enter this week on a two-game losing streak as they fell 3-2 to the Sharks and 4-2 to the Maple Leafs after their win.
The lack of success for the Canucks isn’t all that surprising, as they were projected to finish near the bottom of the standings. After a month, their 3-12-1 record is the worst in the National Hockey League, while their seven points are the fewest.
This week, they’ll host the Ducks on Tuesday, before hitting the road to take on the struggling Winnipeg Jets (who have lost their last seven games) on Thursday and the Oilers on Saturday.

Vegas Golden Knights

Lastly, things haven’t been going great for the defending Western Conference champions, the Vegas Golden Knights. They played just two games this past week, defeating the Senators 4-1 on Tuesday, before dropping a 5-2 decision to the Devils on Friday.
The Knights have lost four of their last five games, but sit second in the Pacific Division thanks to a 9-5-1 record, giving them 19 points. They’ll be busy this week, heading out east to take on the Boston Bruins on Monday, the Penguins on Tuesday, the Red Wings on Thursday, and the Sabres on Sunday.
