In advance of training camp opening in a week, Sunday was the deadline for players on the 24 teams that were in July’s playoffs to opt out of the upcoming season. Per TSN’s Salim Valji, no Calgary Flames players did so.
Seven players opted out of the 2020 Return to Play, including Calgary’s Travis Hamonic. The others were Mike Green (Edmonton), Sven Baertschi (Vancouver), Karl Alznere (Montreal), Roman Polak (Dallas), Steven Kampfer (Boston) and Tuukka Rask (Boston), who opted out after the resumption due to a family emergency.
Flames camp opens on Jan. 3. Their regular season schedule begins on Jan. 14.
