Gutted by the news of Peter Maher's passing; it hits like a death in the family. We travelled together for 19 years, covering the Flames on the road. One of the great broadcasting voices of his generation; and wonderful human being. Rest in peace, old friend.

Peter was an incredible broadcaster, the best at his craft, and the most prepared and hardworking person I’ve been around. Pete was also just a great man. A rockstar who only carried himself like a teammate, friend, and mentor. Rest easy, Pete. What an honour to know you.

Hard to find words today. You won’t find anyone who was more universally loved than Peter Maher. Everyone loved Pete. Everyone. He made it impossible not to. Kind and respectful to all, Peter truly was a legend and one of the finest men I’ve ever known.
Peter Maher was a hero of mine as a young play-by-play broadcaster. His call was iconic. He described the game with great detail, but always kept up with the pace of play. He treated each game with huge respect and importance. One of a kind.
