The Calgary Flames beat the Colorado Avalanche by a 3-2 score in overtime on Saturday night. Here are selected reactions from players following the game.
“They were playing with a lot of confidence and speed. Obviously it’s no’t the start we wanted, but I thought we responded really well, especially as the game went on. We realized we had to put pucks behind them and forecheck them and that’s what we did.” – Flames captain Mark Giordano on the team’s on-ice adjustments after a slow start.
“We definitely played better after that timeout. They came out pretty hot there in the first three, four minutes there. We knew we needed to be better. Ritter did a great job there in the back, in the net there for us. It’s tough after getting scored on twice in the first two, three minutes, to battle like he did. Great job by him. Great job by our PK killing one off late in the third there. It was a good team win.” – Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau assesses his team’s performance.
