#Flames LW Sam Bennett after David Rittich's 43-save shutout in Columbus: “They had a good push. They had a lot of shots, a lot of chances. Ritter has bailed us out a lot of times this year already. He did again tonight. He made some unbelievable saves.”

Quips and Quotes: Flames beat Blue Jackets 3-0

The Calgary Flames beat the Columbus Blue Jackets by a 3-0 score on Saturday night. Here are notes and reactions following the game.
Egads, an early lead!
The Flames have chased a lot in games this season. Heck, they’ve only scored first six times prior to Saturday night. So you can understand why head coach Bill Peters was pleased with his team’s effort early in this game.
I liked our start. I thought we could’ve had more than the one. It was good to see Monny get rewarded, I thought he’s been playing with more pace here recently. Good to see him get on the board and good to get a lead on the road early.
Peters added that he liked how dangerous they were on the rush for the first 40-45 minutes of the game, something he felt was a carry-over from their win in Nashville.
David Rittich: busy save man
David Rittich made 43 stops for the victory and his third career shutout. His teammates obviously appreciated his ability to make many, many saves.
It’s the second time this season he’s made 43 saves – the other was the Heritage Classic – and the second-most saves he’s made in his NHL career. (He made 45 saves in a game last season.)
Three shutouts ties Rittich with Chad Johnson for 15th on the Flames’ franchise leaderboard. He’s only a handful of wins behind Mike Smith, too.
