Quips and Quotes: Flames lose to Ducks 3-2

The Calgary Flames lost to the Anaheim Ducks by a 3-2 score on Wednesday night. Here are selected reactions from players and coaches following the game.
Couldn’t get enough at even strength
Speaking after the game, Flames head coach Bill Peters didn’t seem all that displeased with the effort.
We had some good looks. I thought we needed to do a little bit more offensively five on five, and we would’ve been there. We had some good looks in the second and I liked our third period, but we ended up chasing again tonight.
For context, the Flames never led in this game. In 16 games, they’ve trailed after 20 minutes seven times and after 40 minutes 12 times. They’ve scored first eight times, going 6-2-0 in those games.
For what it’s worth, Peters said he thought goaltender Mike Smith had a good game.
Gave up winner right after tying it up
Flames captain Mark Giordano broke down Anaheim’s game-winning goal from Ryan Getzlaf, scored just 27 seconds after Mark Jankowski tied things up at 2-2.
Those are big shifts after we score that one shorthanded. It’s a tough play, trying to be aggressive on our penalty kill. I thought their guy made a good play, went to the net with it and the puck squirted to Getzlaf there and those are tough ones to give. We had a lot of looks after that but just couldn’t find a way to tie it tonight.
