The Calgary Flames were not good against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. In their second game in as many cities in as many nights, the Flames looked worn out. Not only that, but they made some mistakes that cost them. They lost 6-1 to the Senators.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.
Andersson played 19:48 and had a shot on goal. He was also minus-four, something he brought up unprompted when chatting with the media. Andersson reflected on a frustrating night for the gents in red and white.
We played in their zone quite a bit. We played well in their zone. We got some shots through. It just felt like every time we got a turnover or an odd-man against, they capitalized. And then obviously after the third or fourth one, it’s tough. We just weren’t good enough. It’s not one, two guys. It’s everyone. Everyone needs to be better. It starts with one too many turnovers. We’re not clean when we break out. The puck is bouncing a little bit and it ends up in our net, and it’s tough. It’s tough mentally. It just felt like one of those nights. We just weren’t… it wasn’t good enough. It felt like one of those nights. It was very frustrating out there.
Lucic had Calgary’s lone goal. He was also minus-two. He was asked about how the team’s recent slide gets turned around.
I don’t think it’s about Xs and Os. I just think it’s about us coming together as a group and playing together and playing for each other and all that type of stuff. Like I said, this one’s on the players. The coaching staff hasn’t changed from last year and I think that was one of our strong points and where we started to move in the right direction was our ability to play as a unit, especially a five-man unit on the ice, playing for each other, sacrificing for each other and stuff like that. So, we gotta find that again. That’s up to the players and no one else.
