Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson will face a hearing for his hit on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine late in Friday’s game. Andersson was given a major penalty for elbowing and a game misconduct – the Player Safety tweet called the incident “elbowing/charging.”
A hearing doesn’t guarantee a suspension, but it’s usually a pretty crucial precursor to a suspension – or a lecture and a fine.
The Blue Jackets PR account tweeted that Laine did not travel to Minnesota for their game on Saturday night and is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
The Flames are back in action on Sunday when they face the Detroit Red Wings.
