The Calgary Wranglers played the last of their four game stretch against the San Diego Gulls on Sunday afternoon. Dustin Wolf got the afternoon off with his counterpart, Oscar Dansk getting the nod in net for his sixth game of the season. The Wranglers continued their solid play and extended their win streak to six games with a 5-2 win on home ice.

<h2>Game at a glance</h2>
The Wranglers showed no signs of fatigue for the start of this afternoon game and got the scoring started within the first five minutes. Walker Duehr struck first on the power play extending his individual point streak to six straight games. Nick DeSimone and Cole Schwindt picked up the assists. 
11:21 into the first, Dennis Gilbert fired a slapshot from the blue line after Emilio Pettersen faked like he was going to shoot and dropped the pass to Gilbert. This was Gilbert’s first goal of the season and Ben Jones picked up the secondary assist. 
Whistles were kept to a minimum in the first with only one penalty a side. The first 20 minutes finished up with the Wranglers ahead 2-0 on the scoreboard and tied at seven for shots.
Early in the second, Nicolas Meloche was called for tripping and the Gulls had a half decent power play. Didn’t generate much but had quite a bit more zone time than they’ve had in the game up until that point. 
Right after the penalty came to an end, the Wranglers got a rush the other way and Brett Sutter was right on the doorstep to bury a rebound five-hole. Nick DeSimone picked up his second assist of the afternoon and Meloche got the secondary assist right out of the box. 
The Gulls were able to get one back when Oscar Dansk misplayed the puck and in his scramble to get the puck back, he left the net pretty much wide open for the Gulls to shoot into. Bryce Kindopp was the goal scorer for San Diego. 
About five minutes later, the Wranglers had some more success on the power play with a power play goal from Connor Zary. He chipped away at a loose puck and earned the Wranglers fourth goal of the afternoon. Jakob Pelletier and Mitch McLain earned the assists.
16:49 into the second, some more unlucky scoring happened against the Wranglers when McLain went to play the puck and turned it over right to his opponent&#8217;s stick deep in his own zone. Benoit-Olivier Groulx ended up scoring off this McLain “pass” and cut the Wranglers lead in half. If McLain was wearing a different jersey he would’ve gotten the primary assist on that one. 
The second period finished up with the Wranglers up 4-2. In the third, things tightened up scoring wise with only one lamplighter taking place. However, it was worth sticking around for the last 20 minutes to watch.
Emilio Pettersen got out on a breakaway and pulled the moves on the Gulls’ goaltender for this gorgeous goal. Looks like Eriksson Ek got a little jab in on the end when Pettersen got a little too close to him.

Yan Kuztesov picked up the lone assist on Pettersen’s fifth goal of the year and the Wranglers’ fifth and final goal of the game. San Diego didn’t have much push going into the end of the game and the score wasn’t close enough to bother calling a timeout or pulling their goaltender. 
Dansk picked up the win in the net stopping 16 of 18 shots. The Wranglers swept the three stars accolades with Dennis Gilbert getting the third star, Emilio Pettersen getting the second star and Brett Sutter getting the first. 
That’s not the only thing they swept, they also completed their four-game series sweep over the last two weeks. They’ll have a long break between meetings now with their next game against the Gulls not set to take place until March 24th.
