The Calgary Wranglers and Colorado Eagles kicked off a four game series on Friday night. The Wranglers were on the road and both teams got a little taste of some last-minute trade deadline moves that affected their starting lineups. The Wranglers were unfortunately outplayed in this first match-up and fell 3-1 to the Eagles.

<h2>Roster moves</h2>
The Wranglers were mostly safe from the trade deadline moves made by the Flames on Friday. Everyone is still around with the exception of Radim Zohorna. Zohorna was consistently playing on the top two lines and got a few games in with the Flames this year. He leaves the team seventh in scoring with 10 goals and 19 assists in the 40 games he played with the Wranglers this year. 
 Zohorna was moved as part of a deal for Dryden Hunt. Hunt was assigned to the Wranglers on Friday but it was too short notice for him to join Calgary for this game. He might be available for Saturday&#8217;s match-up or he will make his debut on home ice midweek next week.

Dustin Wolf got the start in net for the Wranglers with Jonas Johansson at the other end for the Eagles. Tensions flared up right away with Adam Klapka getting tied up in a tilt just 2:37 into the game.

The fight did its job and got the Wranglers going through the first half of the period. They opened up the scoring 8:58 into the first with a slap shot from Jeremie Poirier. Alex Gallant and Adam Klapka assisted.

Later in the period, Alex Gallant also got into a fight of his own.

Just over a minute after Gallant’s fight, the Eagles answered back and these two finished up the first period tied up 1-1. Colorado out-shot Calgary 12-7 through the first 20 minutes. The second period took a different turn activity-wise and didn’t have any fights or goals to report. In the second, Calgary narrowly out-shot Calgary 7-6. 
In the third, Kevin Rooney put himself on the fighting train and dropped the gloves as well. It’s going to be a long series between these guys if they’re only in game one of four and already racked up three fights. 
Calgary had a few chances in the third but not enough to put any more goals on the board. The Eagles snuck another goal past Wolf 16:07 into the third period. The Wranglers pulled Wolf with 2:58 to go in regulation to put on some extra pressure but nothing came of it, unfortunately. 
The Wranglers dropped their first game against the Eagles by a score of 3-1 and were narrowly out-shot 24-22. The Wranglers have now dropped four of their last five games with three straight losses to Henderson, a win against Coachella Valley and this loss to Colorado.

The Wranglers will need a quick regroup as this series continues right into the next day with another evening match-up on Saturday night. They’ll stay in Colorado and puck drop will be at 7:05 p.m. MT.
