Recap: Martin Frk’s four goal night still not enough to pick up Wranglers win against Silver Knights

The Calgary Wanglers hosted the Henderson Silver Knights on Tuesday to kick off their first series against the Golden Knights’ affiliate since November. Martin Frk made an immediate impact with a first period hat trick, but his opponents kept pace. Henderson scored a pair of goals in the second and third period and while the Wranglers managed to get two more goals back in the last six minutes of regulation, they couldn’t pull out a win. They ended up falling 6-5.

The Wranglers made a few line changes for this game after running the same lineup for their Moose series over the weekend. Alex Gallant and Simon Mack came out of the lineup for this game and Parker Bell and Turner Ottenbreit came back in.

Game at a glance
The Wranglers switched things up in net after Arsenii Sergeev carried the weight over the weekend. Ivan Prosvetov made his return and started this game. On the other end of the ice, Carl Lindbom started for the Silver Knights. Just 13 seconds into the game, Raphael Lavoie scored on the first shot of the game.
57 seconds in, Calgary took it the other way with a set up for Martin Frk by the bottom of the offensive zone face-off circle. Justin Kirkland and Dryden Hunt assisted on this answer back goal.
22 seconds later, Martin Frk scored again on the next shot. Three shots and three goals in this game by 1:19. Dryden Hunt and Justin Kirkland also assisted on this second marker.

After these goals some of the first saves of the game were made then the first penalty was called against Henderson for holding at 4:12. The visitors killed this penalty off and Raphael Lavoie scored his second goal of the game off a wrist shot at 7:17.
A few minutes later, the Wranglers took the lead back with another goal from Martin Frk off a slap shot. This was Frk’s second hat trick of the season with his other one also coming against the Silver Knights back in November. Nick Cicek and Daniil Miromanov picked up the helpers on this goal at 11:25.

The Silver Knights took another penalty before the end of the frame at 15:42, but the score remained after this chance. By the end of an eventful 20 minutes, Calgary held a 3-2 lead and out-shot their opponents 13-10.
Early in the second period, the Wranglers took their first penalty of the game when Turner Ottenbreit was called for tripping at 2:14. This call came and went then the next penalty was called against Carter Wilkie for delay of game at 9:29. Almost 40 seconds later, former Wrangler, Mitch McLain evened up the score.
The Wranglers gave the Silver Knights another chance on the power play ar 12:58, when Clark Bishop was called for cross checking. They killed off this penalty, then at 17:14, the Silver Knights took the lead with a goal from Kai Uchacz that Ivan Prosvetov would’ve probably liked back.
At the end of the second period, the Silver Knights were ahead 4-3 and out-shot Calgary 17-8 in the middle frame. Just 57 seconds into the third period, Jeremy Davies tried to pass the puck to the front of the net and Turner Ottenbreit tried to break up the pass. This deflection ended up causing the puck to bank off the back of Ivan Prosvetov and into the back of the net.
At 5:39, the Wranglers took a penalty when Etienne Morin was called for holding. Just 11 seconds into this power play, Kai Uchacz scored his second of a game by tucking the puck five hole on Prosvetov. The score was 6-3 Silver Knights by this point in the game.
The game was getting down to the last six minutes or so of regulation and Clark Bishop kicked off a comeback attempt at 14:18 with a goal off his own rebound. Brennan Othmann and Carter King picked up the assists.

23 seconds later, Martin Frk ripped another slap shot and beat Lindbom for the fourth time this game. Nick Cicek and Daniil Miromanov picked up the assists on this goal at 14:41.
FOUR FOR FRK
Calgary pulled Ivan Prosvetov for the extra attacker at 17:40 then called a timeout shortly after. The Silver Knights shot two empty net attempts wide and Calgary wasn’t able to sneak one more goal in before the end of regulation. They ended up falling 6-5. Shots finished 40-34 Wranglers and Martin Frk earned the first star of the night for his first professional four goal game.
