It was revenge day for the Calgary Wranglers on Friday night. They played the back half two-game matchup against the Abbotsford Canucks and were fresh off a 4-3 overtime loss to the same team from the night before. Calgary wanted both their possible two points in this game and got them with a final score of 5-0.

The goaltending matchup in this game stayed the same as the previous night with Dustin Wolf in net for Calgary and Arturs Silovs in net for the Canucks. This game got off to a hot start with the pace and the emotions. It was all Wranglers for the early efforts and Alex Gallant got tied up in front of the Canucks net with Jett Woo and wanted a piece of him.
Woo did not want to be Gallant’s latest dance partner and both took a seat for two minutes for roughing. Gallant yelled at Woo the entire skate over to the box and over the plexiglass dividing them in the sin bin. Gallant chased Woo out of the box and over to the bench. Not an enemy the Abbotsford defender likely wanted to make early in this game.

A couple of minutes later, Mitch McLain pick-pocketed his opponent, cut the crease and chipped in his rebound to make it a 1-0 game for Calgary. This goal was an individual effort from McLain and came unassisted at 6:59.

The Wranglers continued with the early momentum, barely giving an inch in their own zone. They were peppering Silovs and were rewarded for it once again. At 14:01, Ilya Solovyov took a shot from the point that Matt Coronato deflected in to make it a 2-0 game. 
After this goal, the Canucks got a few shots back but did not get any goals on the board. With just 1.5 seconds to go in the period, William Stromgren was cross-checked along the boards in front of the Calgary bench and was attended to on the ice. It looked as if he jammed his knee and limped off with the team trainer.
At the end of the first, the Wranglers had a 2-0 lead and a 17-9 lead in the shot category. The second started with the majority of Calgary’s power play on the board. They did not capitalize on this man advantage but did get the next marker on the board. 
At 3:44 Adam Klapka got a wrist shot from Matt Coronato off his body and chipped it past Silovs to make it a 3-0 game.

In another good news, William Stromgren was also back on the ice in the second period so the Wranglers didn’t have to adjust to being down a forward. They settled into the game in the second a bit more but still had a lot of effort in the offensive zone. 
By the end of two complete periods, the Wranglers were up 3-0 and ahead 35-22 in shots. In the third, the first handful of minutes were pretty quiet. The first whistle took place at 7:49 when Lucas Ciona was called for tripping. The Canucks decided to pull their goaltender once they controlled the Wranglers zone.
Unfortunately for them, Clark Bishop sprung the puck on a partial breakaway and at first glance looked like he made an error on the shot. Upon a second look, he was interfered with and the on-ice officials ruled it a goal. Clark Bishop’s sixth marker of the year came at 8:51 with a shorthanded empty-netter.

Later in the period, the Wranglers earned their fifth goal of the night with Matt Coronato’s second marker and fourth point. He scored on a wraparound at 15:52 and Ilya Nikolaev and Emilio Pettersen assisted.

That delivered the final blow in this game and at the final horn, the Wranglers finished up with a 5-0 win and 46 shots on goal. Dustin Wolf faced 37 on the other end in his third shutout of the season.
With this win, Matt Coronato dethroned Ben Jones as the teams top scorer and Dustin Wolf placed himself tied for second in the league for shutouts.
