Report: Flames To Sign Daniel Pribyl

While the hockey world was enthralled by the battle between the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks tonight, a couple tweets from Sportsnet analyst Elliotte Friedman likely perked up Calgary Flames fans waiting patiently for any kind of good news.
Pribyl turns 24 in December, but the contract will be a two-year entry level deal (after which he’ll become a restricted free agent) because he’s 23 as of September 15 and the CBA has three different age definitions within it. The product of Cisek, Czech Republic is currently plying his trade with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga, and his contract with them is active until their playoffs end. Sparta Praha is playing HC Billi Tygri Liberec in the Extraliga finals, which will finish up by (or before) April 26. As of this writing, the series is tied 1-1.
Pribyl is 6’3″, 238 pounds, and basically ticks off every box for a hockey club that is really lacking in right-shooting forwards at the NHL level. Once the signing becomes official, Pribyl will immediately become Calgary’s top right-winger by default.
We’ll have more on this story as it becomes available.
