<p>The 2022 National Hockey League trade deadline is just 17 days away. Since the Calgary Flames are currently atop the Pacific Division and poised to likely qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs, they&#8217;re a big discussion point when it comes to the trade deadline.</p>
<p>Trade chatter and rumours among the major sites was a bit light on specific Flames linkages this week, but there are some names that could be good fits.</p>

<p>Over at our sister site, Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli&#8217;s Ice Breakers segment noted that the Ottawa Senators are not close to a deal with pending unrestricted free agent forward Nick Paul. Paul, 26, is a left shot utility forward who&#8217;s big (6&#8217;3&#8243;, 219), versatile and carries a really manageable $1.35 million cap hit. He could be a nice fit as an upgrade for Calgary&#8217;s bottom six. (The Athletic&#8217;s Hailey Salvian suggested this earlier in the week and it makes a lot of sense.)</p>

<p>The rumour that will not go away is Ben Chiarot to the Flames. He&#8217;s been linked to the team dating back weeks, even before the Tyler Toffoli deal. I&#8217;m not sure how the money would work &#8211; the Flames can add at most $1.7 million in cap hits if they send waiver-exempt Adam Ruzicka to the AHL prior to the deadline, which wouldn&#8217;t be enough to fit Chiarot in.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, The Athletic&#8217;s Big Board 2.0 has Seattle&#8217;s Calle Jarnkrok listed as a &#8220;Medium&#8221; likelihood of a trade: &#8220;He’s a quality all-around player who can play up and down any team’s lineup, is just 30, earns a modest $2 million, and is on an expiring contract, the sort of depth piece any contender would want.&#8221;</p>
