The Calgary Flames will be looking to win three games in a row for the first time this season when they take on the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday as -160 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary has enjoyed a much-needed four-day break since posting a 3-1 win over the visiting Ottawa Senators on Saturday, extending the team’s points streak to four games going into Thursday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Sabres at Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report

The recent stretch of success comes as a relief to the Flames, who spent a large part of November mired in a six-game losing streak as well as a controversy that ultimately claimed the job of head coach Bill Peters. A scoring drought directly contributed to the club’s recent woes, with Flames shooters potting just five total goals over the team’s six-game slide.
The Flames have yet to enjoy a goal-scoring explosion but have seen an uptick in their production, potting 11 markers over their past four contests. The Calgary defense has also been outstanding during the team’s 3-0-1 run, with goaltender David Rittich leading the way, surrendering just eight total goals. That has further extended a lengthy run for the UNDER at sports betting sites, which is 9-0-1 over the past 10 games, including a 4-0 run on home ice.
Despite their recent success the Flames still have work to do to return to the playoff picture in the Western Conference, as Calgary remains stalled in sixth place in the Pacific Division standings. As a result, the Flames have fallen well off the pace on the NHL futures, where they now lead only Anaheim and Los Angeles as a +1400 wager to win the division, and trail at a distant +3000 on the Stanley Cup odds.
The Sabres open a three-game Western Canada swing on Thursday pegged as +140 underdogs. Buffalo is coming off a lopsided 7-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils as -125 home chalk on Monday, marking the team’s second win in three outings.
But the Sabres have been simply brutal on the road, falling to defeat in six of their past seven, including four losses by multi-goal margins. However, they earned a 4-3 win as +185 underdogs in their last visit to Calgary back in January.
