Scoreboard Watching – February 17 2015

Two games that could have impact on Calgary’s playoff hopes are featured on tonight’s out-of-town scoreboard watch!
At 6pm MT, the Dallas Stars (60 points) visit the St. Louis Blues. The Blues are 18 points up on the Stars, who themselves are seven back of Calgary with a game in hand. Dallas recently lost Tyler Seguin for a moderate term and really, really need points to stay with the pack, having been leapt over in recent weeks by Los Angeles and Minnesota in the playoff race.
Also at 6pm MT, the San Jose Sharks (66 points) visit the Nashville Predators. Good news and bad news for the Sharks. Good news? They’re in a playoff spot, and are just a smidge behind the Flames, Canucks and Jets for a better playoff spot. The bad news? They’ve played 58 games, and they’re being pursued by the Wild and Kings, both of whom hold a game in hand. The Predators can do a big favour to the rest of the West with a win tonight, which would give Calgary a one-point edge with two games in hand, and give Los Angeles and Minnesota three games in hand. The Sharks really, really need the win tonight, while the Predators are hoping to round into form as the playoffs get closer to beginning.
