The Calgary Wranglers look to keep their winning streak going for their fourth and fifth games of the season this weekend. The Vegas Golden Knights affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights host them for their home opener on Friday and Saturday night. Calgary currently sits at a 2-1 record with wins in their last two games.
Contributing to those wins has mostly been Devin Cooley in net and the Wranglers’ top line consisting of AHL top scorer, Rory Kerins, Jakob Pelletier and Dryden Hunt.

Notes and expectations
It’s only a week into the season, but at this point it is too hard not to talk about the standout play of Rory Kerins to start the year. Kerins picked up his first career hat trick in Coachella Valley on Wednesday and already has five goals and six points in three games. With a two-point-per-game average, is this something he can keep up?
Kerins is playing higher in the lineup than he ever has before. In the last two seasons, he was mostly a fourth line centre and occasionally a third line centre. Now with how things have fallen with this year’s rosters for the Flames and Wranglers, he is getting more opportunity than ever before. He is also a product of his line’s success. Dryden Hunt and Jakob Pelletier are Flames prospects that are not even a year removed from the NHL and have been setting up the up and coming center for some nice plays in front of the net.
Calgary’s top line has accounted for six of the Wranglers’ 10 goals in the opening games. Not that there haven’t been contributions from other parts of the lineup, but this line especially is at the next level. Down the lineup, things have remained pretty much the same with minor tweaks to the fourth line to slot David Silye and Parker Bell in and replace Jaden Lipinski, who was released back to the Vancouver Giants earlier this week.
On the other end of the ice, the Wranglers will get to reunite with an old teammate of theirs from the past two seasons. Mitch McLain now plays with the Henderson Silver Knights and has been playing down on the third line. He has one goal on the year so far which he scored in Henderson’s season opener against the Texas Stars on Oct. 11.
