The Calgary Wranglers have two games left in the regular season before they kick off the first round of their 2025 playoff journey. They haven’t 100% nailed down their seeding, so their results and the results of the other teams in the Pacific Division this weekend will determine the opening playoff series. Calgary has turned things around lately and earned a sweep over the Abbotsford Canucks in their last series to drive momentum into these last couple of games.

Notes and expectations
The Wranglers’ lineup will likely look different for at least Friday’s game. Earlier this week, Sam Morton and Hunter Brzustewicz were called up to the Flames and made their NHL debuts on Thursday. Sam Morton even put up a memorable first goal in his debut.

Calgary’s AHL squad also received a few reinforcements from other leagues in the last week since their last game. Defencemen, Simon Mack and Carter King were added on amateur tryouts on Apr. 15. Also joining the team on a call-up was Connor Murphy. With the Flames wrapping up their season on the road on Thursday, transactions from the NHL club probably won’t allow the players to be back in time to play Friday. Eyes are on Hunter Brzustewicz, Sam Morton, Adam Klapka and Dryden Hunt to rejoin the Wranglers for the post-season and possibly Sunday’s game.
As far as this weekend goes, the Wranglers haven’t seen much of the Barracuda this season. They’ve only played twice in late 2024 and Calgary has an even record with San Jose, going 1-0-1-0 in their meetings this year. They haven’t played since mid-November. Because of that, they haven’t seen much of Andrew Poturalski, who is the league’s top scorer. He’s going to be someone on the ice they’ll need to be aware of and do their best to shut down. They also haven’t had the chance to reunite with Walker Duehr yet, who played 20 games with the Wranglers this season but was claimed off waivers earlier this season by the San Jose organization. This game is his first playing against his old squad.
This series starts on Good Friday for a Kids Friyay game. They have custom jerseys and giveaways for this game and the Wranglers will wrap up their regular season on Sunday. Both games are set to start at 1:00 p.m. MT. Streaming options are available for a fee on AHL.tv on Flo Hockey and the Sportsnet 960 will have the radio broadcast. Multiple FlamesNation contributors will also have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
