The Calgary Wranglers split their games earlier this week and head on the road to kick off a 10 game road trip. First stop, Henderson, Nevada to play the Vegas Golden Knights affiliate, the Silver Knights. The third place Wranglers are just one spot above the Silver Knights in the standings and with it being so early in the season, a couple of regulation wins going either way could cause some movement.

Notes and expectations
The Wranglers gained and lost a centre this week. The loss being Rory Kerins. Kerins played in Calgary’s Remembrance Day game, was scratched for their game on the 12th, then the call up was announced the morning of the 13th. He made his season debut with the Flames on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks, getting just shy of 16 minutes of ice time.
Coming down to the Wranglers is Justin Kirkland. Kirkland was placed on waivers on the 12th and cleared for the purpose of AHL assignment on the 13th. He’ll play his first AHL game since the 2023-24 season when he was with the Tucson Roadrunners. Kirkland also previously played three seasons with Calgary’s prior AHL affiliate, the Stockton Heat, between 2019-2022. When he was in Calgary’s farm team circulation previously, he was a top line center who put up many clutch goals. That’s something the Wranglers could definitely benefit from in the early days of their season.
Calgary enters this road trip with positives to build off of and parts of their games they know need fine tuning. A storyline that will be interesting to watch over these games will be the play of Parker Bell and Etienne Morin. Both played in consecutive games earlier this week when they were previously averaging a scratch every second game or so. Even Morin spent a little time in Rapid City. After their win on Wednesday, head coach Brett Sutter spoke about what is keeping these two in the lineup.
In regards to Morin he said:
“It’s nice to get Etienne in a couple games in a row here after coming back up. He’s had a great attitude. He’s been trying to work in the gym and get better every day, and he’s being a sponge and I give him a lot of credit for that. So it’s awesome to get him in a few games, and I thought he held his own, which is great.”
He continued about Bell:
“I think Parker’s game’s just trending in the right direction. He’s playing a big, fast game and he’s direct and he’s a hard guy to play against with his size, so yeah, I’m proud of the way he’s playing, and playing against anybody. I’m looking forward to continue to watching him grow.”
Calgary plays another back to back this week with game one going at 7:00 p.m. MT on Saturday and game two going at 6:00 p.m. MT on Sunday. Both games against Henderson will be streamed for a fee on Flo Hockey and multiple FlamesNation contributors will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
