While the coronavirus and the National Hockey League’s suspension has created some uncertainty, some members of the Calgary Flames have donated to a GoFundMe page set up as a fundraiser for impacted event staff.
So far, there have been donations from:
- Mark Giordano and his wife Lauren
- TJ Brodie’s wife Amber
- Milan Lucic
- Zac Rinaldo
- Sam Bennett
- Sean Monahan
As of this writing, more than $44,000 had been donated to the fundraiser. It’s likely not enough to cover all lost wages – the Athletic’s Jon Greenberg did the math for Chicago’s United Center his number was in the vicinity of $5 million combined for the Bulls and Blackhawks games – but it will definitely help out some people in the community that rely on that income.
