Stockton adds pair to their coaching staff

A bit of minor league news to kick off the week, as the Stockton Heat have completed their coaching staff. The club has added Don Nachbaur as assistant coach and Kohl Schultz as video coach.
Nachbaur, 62, played over 200 games in the NHL and won a Calder Cup in the AHL during a lengthy pro career where he played centre. He transitioned to coaching in 1994 and since then has put together a really long resume:
- NHL: Los Angeles (assistant coach; 2017-19)
- AHL: Philadelphia (assistant coach; 2000-02), Binghamton (head coach; 2009-10),
- WHL: Seattle (head coach; 1994-2000), Tri-City (head coach; 2003-09), Spokane (head coach; 2010-17), Tri-City (associate coach; 2020-21)
- Slovakia: HKM Zvolen (head coach; 2019-20)
- Switzerland: SC Bern (head coach; 2020-21)
- International: Canada U18 (assistant coach, Nations Cup; 1999-2000), Canada U18 (assistant coach, Hlinka Gretzky Cup; 2011-12), Canada U20 (assistant coach, World Juniors; 2012-13)
Simply put: Mitch Love is a young, up-and-coming coach, but Nachbaur has been there and done that and can give Love the benefit of his decades of experience behind the bench.
Schultz returns to Stockton after two seasons in Kansas City, where he served as assistant coach (and briefly interim coach). He previously served as the Heatβs video coach from 2017-19, so he brings continuity to the coaching staff and some institutional knowledge.
The full staff for 2021-22 includes head coach Mitch Love, assistants Nachbaur and Joe Cirella, development goaltending coach Thomas Speer, and Schultz as video coach.
