One thing that&#8217;s pretty fun about the annual National Hockey League entry draft is that every team is treated equally. Sure, the draft order is designed to help the poorer teams – it&#8217;s essentially reverse standings order – but every team is allocated the same number of picks and have the opportunity to do whatever they want with them.

As every other team did, the Calgary Flames began the 2007 NHL Draft process with seven draft picks. By the time the draft was over, they had made five picks.
But all five picks originally belonged to another team. The 2007 draft is the only time in franchise history that the Flames ended up trading away all of their own draft picks.
<h2>What happened with their picks?</h2>
The first round (18th overall): On draft day the Flames traded down with St. Louis, moving from 18th to 24th overall, and adding the Blues&#8217; third-round pick (70th overall).
The second round (49th overall): During the previous year&#8217;s draft, the Flames traded their 2006 second-rounder, Jordan Leopold and a conditional pick that ended up being the 2007 second-rounder to Colorado for Alex Tanguay.
The third round (79th overall): Prior to the 2007 trade deadline, the Flames traded their third-round pick to New Jersey in exchange for David Hale and a fifth-round pick.
The fourth round (109th overall): In late January, the Flames traded Jamie Lundmark, their 2008 second-round pick and their fourth-rounder to Los Angeles for Craig Conroy.
The fifth round (139th overall): During the draft, the Flames traded up with Buffalo, moving from 139th (in the fifth round) to 116th (in the fourth round) and sending a second fifth-rounder to the Sabres – previously acquired when they traded Chris Clark to Washington during the 2005 off-season.
The sixth round (169th overall): During the draft, the Flames traded up with Colorado, moving from 169th (in the sixth round) to 143rd (in the fifth round) and second a second sixth-rounder to the Avalanche – previously acquired in the Clark to Washington trade.
The seventh round (199th overall): This pick was sent with Clark to the Capitals during the 2005 off-season for the picks the Flames used to trade up in the fifth and sixth rounds.
