Friends, the Calgary Wranglers have existed as a hockey team for two seasons. They’ve qualified for the Calder Cup playoffs and won a playoff round in each of their first two seasons.
The Wranglers began their third season on Monday with the opening on-ice sessions of their training camp at Winsport. They’re beginning with 26 players on their camp roster and the goal of continuing their strong on-ice performances.

The camp roster

The Wranglers are beginning their camp with a mix of players on NHL deals assigned from the Flames, players on AHL deals, and ECHL players here on try-out agreements.
Goaltenders: Christian Propp (try-out), Connor Murphy (AHL deal) and Matt Radomsky (AHL deal)
Defencemen: Joni Jurmo, Jeremie Poirier, Holden Wale (AHL deal), Charles Martin (AHL deal), Jonathan Aspirot, Billy Constantinou (try-out), Brady Pouteau (try-out), Aaron Hyman (try-out) and Zack Hoffman (try-out)
Forwards: Rory Kerins, Ilya Nikolaev, William Strömgren, Lucas Ciona, Parker Bell, Clark Bishop, Alex Gallant (AHL deal), David Silye (AHL deal), Connor Mylymok (AHL deal), Jaden Lipinski (unsigned NHL prospect), Deni Goure (AHL deal), Brett David (try-out) and Tyler Burnie (try-out)
The seven try-out players are all under contract with the Flames’ ECHL affiliate, the Rapid City Rush. Hyman’s probably the most notable name to locals due to his time with the Calgary Hitmen. Lipinski is a 20-year-old who’s eligible to play either in the AHL or head back to the Western Hockey League as an overage player; we’ll see if he ends up earning a pro contract and where he lands when games begin.

On-ice sessions are open to the public! Sessions are at Winsport, with a scrimmage on Friday the likely highlight for fans that want to head down to check them out.
