The cavalry is arriving for the Wranglers at the nick of time

Good news, everybody!
The 2026 Winter Olympics are here. The bad news is that the Calgary Flames don’t play games for three weeks. Heck, they can’t even practice until Feb. 17. However, the silver lining is that the Calgary Wranglers have received Matvei Gridin and Hunter Brzustewicz from the Flames.
Time will tell how long each player sticks around with the Wranglers, but this duo arrives at a great time for a Wranglers team that’s in the midst of a challenging stretch. The Wranglers lost all three games this week, getting one game to overtime at least, and scored five goals combined.
Heck, Sam Morton scored four of them. We think Sam Morton is great, but if he’s leading your team in scoring then you’re probably having some scoring challenges.
We suspect Gridin will play on one of the Wranglers’ top two lines and get power play time. Brzustewicz probably lands on the top pairing and also gets power play time. Here’s hoping that these gents can keep their NHL mojos going and help the Wranglers regain some traction in the Pacific Division playoff race.
Onto the updates!
