Here’s where things stand as the Flames sit idle tonight.

Calgary’s magic number sits at 3.5 on Winnipeg (because Calgary holds the ROW tie-breaker for sure) and 4 on Los Angeles.

SCOREBOARD WATCHING

The Canucks, Kings and Jets burn off their games in hand on Calgary tonight (as does Minnesota). Minnesota plays Winnipeg and Vancouver plays Los Angeles. A win for Minnesota clinches a playoff berth, as does a win for Vancouver.
  • A Minnesota regulation win drops Calgary’s magic number on the Jets to 2.5.
  • A Vancouver regulation win drops Calgary’s magic number on the Kings to 3.
And that’s with the Flames up against the lowly Arizona Coyotes tomorrow evening. Long story short, life can get easy for the Flames with a win by either the Wild or Canucks and the Flames taking care of their own business on Tuesday night at the ‘Dome.
It’s going to be a fascinating 48 hours of hockey in the Western Conference.
