Thursday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome featured a bit of history.
It was the 1,595th regular season game hosted by the Saddledome, which is kind of fun. But the Utah Hockey Club visited the Calgary Flames for the first time in their history, becoming the 37th different club to play in the Saddledome as visitors since the arena opened in 1983.
Unless something weird happens within the National Hockey League in the next two seasons – which we won’t definitively rule out – Utah HC will be the final NHL team to make their Saddledome debut in the building’s long history.
To commemorate this occasion, we’ve dug through the NHL’s statistical archive and broken down how each club has experienced their trips to the ‘Dome over the years – stats are current through Thursday’s game.

We admit, it’s kind of peculiar how some teams had horrible luck in the Saddledome and other teams performed quite well – it’s fairly shocking that Hartford won just twice and Atlanta never won.
Which team’s record or goal-scoring leaders at the Saddledome pique your interest the most? Let us know in the comments and we can delve into some interesting stories as we wind down the final couple of years in the ‘Dome.
