The Wranglers are suddenly, temporarily, without their three all-star representatives

Earlier this month, the American Hockey League announced that goaltender Devin Cooley and forward Rory Kerins would represent the Calgary Wranglers at the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic in Palm Desert, California in early February.
Cooley and Kerins join the Wranglers head coach at that event, whoever that is at the time. You see, head coach Trent Cull joined the Calgary Flames’ NHL coaching staff on an interim basis to fill in for Brad Larsen while he’s away tending to a family matter. So the league-leading Wranglers are being led by interim head coach Joe Cirella, the team’s assistant coach, during Cull’s absence.
Since the announcement of Cooley and Kerins being named to the All-Star Classic, Kerins was called up to the Flames to fill in for the injury Connor Zary and Cooley left a start for the Wranglers after two periods with an apparent injury. He hasn’t dressed for their two subsequent games.
In an ideal world, the Wranglers would have Cooley, Kerins and Cull available. But the club is dealing with some adversity right now, as all three key figures are absent due to very unique circumstances.
After Tuesday’s win over Tucson… they remain atop the AHL’s standings.
Onto this week’s updates!
