Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
It was this week in 2004 (May 29th) that Jarome Iginla had one of his most infamous moments as the Calgary Flames captain and it came in the form of a fight.
The scrap came in game three of the cup finals and only minutes into the game. Hard on the forecheck deep in the Flames zone, Lecavalier laid a check on Iginla behind the Flames net and he appears to take a half-hearted swing of an elbow on Iggy.
Not one to back down, Iginla retaliates and the pair drop the gloves. Lecavalier catches Iginla with a few glancing punches, and Jarome is able to get a few lefts in before the pair fall and the linesmen come in.
It’s not often that you see a pair of captains drop the mitts let alone in the Stanley Cup finals.
You can relive that great scrap down below thanks to our friends at Hockeyfights.
