A member of the Calgary Flames&#8217; 1989 Stanley Cup championship team has been enshrined in a Hall of Fame. Tim Hunter was inducted into the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame at their annual gala on Sunday.

Here&#8217;s the statement on Hunter&#8217;s induction from the Hall:
<blockquote>With more than four decades spent in the NHL and WHL as a player and coach, he helped bring a new focus to smart technology to the sport. In 1989, he lifted the Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames in 1989 and continues his engagement in the community as an active alumnus.</blockquote>
A product of Calgary, Hunter was drafted by the Flames in 1979. He played 815 NHL games over 16 seasons between Calgary, Quebec, Vancouver and San Jose. He remains the Flames&#8217; all-time leader in penalty minutes, and was a core part of the Flames&#8217; 1989 Cup team. He had an extensive coaching career after retiring as a player, making stops in the NHL as an assistant coach in Washington, San Jose and Toronto and head-coaching the WHL&#8217;s Moose Jaw Warriors for the better part of six seasons.
Other Flames alumni inducted into the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame include Jamie Macoun, Theo Fleury, Mike Vernon and Lanny McDonald. The Sutter Family has also been inducted as a group, and former Flames executive Bill Hay has also been inducted.
First established in 1982, the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame selects inductees based on their outstanding achievements, dedication and commitment to building hockey in Alberta in all aspects of the game.
