There’s a little over a month left in the 2024-25 season.
With a 38-19-7 record and 83 points, the Vegas Golden Knights are first in the Pacific Division. Behind them are the Edmonton Oilers with a 37-23-4 record and 78 points and the Los Angeles Kings with a 34-20-9 record with 77 points.
Occupying the final Wild Card spot are the Calgary Flames, who have a 30-23-10 record and 70 points. They have a game in hand over the Vancouver Canucks, who have a 29-24-11 record with 69 points. Also in the hunt are the Anaheim Ducks, who have a 28-29-7 record with 63 points. Well out of the race are the Seattle Kraken (27-34-4 with 58 points) and the San Jose Sharks (17-40-9 with 43 points). Let’s take a look at the week that was in the Pacific Division.
Anaheim Ducks
It wasn’t a great week for the Anaheim Ducks, as they were 1-3-0 with losses to the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, and Washington Capitals, but picked up a victory over the New York Islanders.
Troy Terry has 17 goals and 48 points, leading the Ducks in the latter category. Frank Vatrano’s 20 goals lead the team, while Mason McTravhish also has 17 goals. Ryan Strome, Jackson LaCombe, Cutter Guathier, Leo Carlsson, and Alexander Killorn all have double-digit goals. In net, Lukáš Dostál has a .910 save percentage and 2.91 goals against average in 41 games. John Gibson also has a .910 save percentage.
This coming week, the Ducks will face the Utah Hockey Club on the road. They will then return home to host the Nashville Predators before taking on the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars on the road.
Calgary Flames
It was a quiet week for the Calgary Flames, who played just two games this week. First up, they blew a 2-0 lead and fell 3-2 in overtime to the Dallas Stars. On Saturday, they shutout the Montréal Canadiens 1-0 to move back into a Wild Card spot.
Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri are both tied for the team lead in goals and points with 22 and 46 respectively. Defenceman MacKenzie Weegar has seven goals and 36 points, while Matt Coronato has 16 goals and 32 points. Blake Coleman, Connor Zary, and Yegor Sharangovich each have 12 goals while captain Mikael Backlund has 11. In net, Dustin Wolf has a .915 save percentage and a 2.52 goals against average.
This coming week, the Flames host the Vancouver Canucks and the Colorado Avalanche, before heading on the road to face the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers got back on track this past week, defeating the Montréal Canadiens 3-2 in overtime and beating the Dallas Stars 5-4. However, they fell 3-2 to the Buffalo Sabres on the road.
Leon Draisaitl’s back must be hurting from all the carrying he’s doing. He leads the National Hockey League with 46 points and the Oilers with 97 points. Connor McDavid has 24 goals and 82 points, while defenceman Evan Bouchard has 12 goals and 51 points. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, Corey Perry, and Jeff Skinner each have double-digit goals. In net, Stuart Skinner has an .896 save percentage and a 2.88 goals against average.
This coming week, the Oilers face the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, and New York Rangers on the road, before returning home to host the Utah Hockey Club.
Los Angeles Kings
Also getting back on track were the Los Angeles Kings. After a 3-2 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues, they rebounded with a 2-1 overtime win against the Blues, before defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 6-5 and the New York Islanders 4-1.
Adrian Kempe leads the Kings in both goals and points, scoring 27 and 53 respectively. Not far behind in the point totals is captain Anže Kopitar, who has 16 goals and 62 points. Kevin Fiala has 24 goals and 42 points, while Quinton Byfield, Warren Foegele, Alex Laferriere, and Trevor Moore each have double-digit goals. In net, Darcy Kuemper has a .915 save percentage and a 2.26 goals against average.
This coming week, the Golden Knights host the Washington Capitals and the Nashville Predators, before hitting the road to face off against the Minnesota Wild.
San Jose Sharks
It wasn’t a great week for the San Jose Sharks, but when has it been this season? They fell 7-3 to the Colorado Avalanche, 4-2 to the New York Islanders, and 3-2 to the Nashville Predators.
Rookie Macklin Celebrini has 20 goals and 48 points, tied for the team lead in points with William Eklund, who has 14 goals. Leading the team in goals is Tyler Toffoli, who has 24 goals and 43 points. Another rookie, Will Smith, has 12 goals and 33 points in 58 games. In net, Alexandar Georgiev has an .875 save percentage and 3.84 goals against average.
The Sharks are on a lengthy home stand, spanning from Mar. 8 until Mar. 29 and eight games. This week, they host the Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals before a four-day break.
Seattle Kraken
The Seattle Kraken went 1-2-0 this week, falling 5-3 to the Nashville Predators and 4-2 to the Washington Capitals, before defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1.

Jake DeBrusk’s 22 goals lead the team, while Conor Garland, Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson, Pius Suter, and Kiefer Sherwood each have double-digit goals. Pavel Dorofeyev isn’t far behind with 26 goals, while Ivan Barbashev, Brett Howden, Keegan Kolesar, Tanner Pearson, and Victor Olofsson each have double-digit goals. In net, Adin Hill has a .904 save percentage and 2.60 goals against average in 38 games.
