Notes and expectations

The biggest bit of news coming out since the Wranglers last played is a suspension to alternate captain Alex Gallant. Gallant hopped off the bench in Wednesday’s game against the Tucson Roadrunners to fight a player who took down William Stromgren against the boards. Here’s a look at that play.
His suspension will last six games and take him out of the lineup for the rest of the month. Parker Bell was the odd man out last game when the coaching staff went with an extra defender so he will likely slide in and join Trevor Janicke on the fourth line. Jonathan Aspirot was also regularly rotating on this line last game. It wouldn’t be the first time Aspirot played a role like this as he played a handful of games as a winger last season when he was called upon.
On the other end of the ice are the Gulls, who were one of the five California-based teams that did a charitable event towards the Los Angeles wildfires this week. They collected donations in their last game against the Iowa Wild on Wednesday night and are still collecting donations through their foundation until after this game. They did not win their last game but this initiative is giving them a way to win off the ice.
Calgary and San Diego have only seen each other three times this season and in each of those games, the Wranglers have picked up the victory. Their last meeting was all the way back in November when Calgary took a 4-3 win on the 20th. Both have a 2-3-0-0 record in their last five games going into this meeting.
These two teams play just one game against each other before Calgary heads to Ontario to play the Reign on Sunday. This game between the Gulls and Wranglers gets going at 7:00 p.m. MT.
