The Calgary Wranglers play the first of a split weekend series against the Henderson Silver Knights. They’ve got games on back-to-back nights but two different opponents to face off against. First is Henderson on Saturday then Ontario on Sunday. Henderson gave Calgary some trouble in their last series, sweeping them in two games. The Silver Knights are the only team the Wranglers have faced this year to have a perfect record against them so this game will be an opportunity to try and make an effort towards settling the score.

It’s been a couple of weeks since these teams last met so the Wranglers have had some time to rethink their strategy against the Vegas Golden Knight affiliate. They only scored three goals to Hederson’s seven through the last game’s series and are still searching for their first win against them this year. Thankfully for the Wranglers, if things go south, they will get to switch opponents the following night. 
The Wranglers are still missing some bodies to the Flames. Jakob Pelletier, Walker Duehr and Dennis Gilbert are slotting into the Flames roster and getting some active playing time with the big club. Pelletier’s and Duehr’s offensive abilities would be helpful against this tougher team but who are the Wranglers to get in between NHL playing time?
With Pelletier away from the Wranglers for the time being, Ben Jones is creeping up in points with his eye on the third spot for team scoring. He may overthrow Pelletier&#8217;s scoring in the upcoming games. Jones has been playing very good hockey lately with points in four out of five of his last games. In the 39 games he’s played this year, Jones is up to nine goals and 23 assists for a total of 32 points. Just two points behind Pelletier.
Standings-wise, this match-up weighs in favour of the Wranglers. Calgary sits second in the Pacific Division with a 28-10-2-0 record while Henderson sits at eighth in the Division with a 16-25-0-3 record. The Wranglers also have the second-best power play percentage in the league with their opponents way down at 25th in the AHL. If they are struggling to keep up with scoring in this game again, the special teams may be the spot to capitalize on.

Their one-off game this weekend against Henderson is set to take place at 8:00 p.m. MT. After this, they will not play each other again until late February.
