Notes and expectations
The Barracuda have been on a hot streak the last 10 games going 8-0-1-1. The Wranglers on the other hand, have been at .500, going 5-5-0-0 in their last 10. Calgary beating Coachella Valley in overtime on Sunday brings confidence and a chip on their shoulder going into this game. Calgary holds three players in the top seven in scoring in the league with Martin Frk sitting tied for the top spot in points going into this game.
The Wranglers will get even more talent injected into their roster as Sam Morton was announced as a reassignment to the AHL on Tuesday. Morton got three games in with the Flames, and his return will likely take Carter King or David Silye out of the lineup. In Morton’s last game with the Wranglers on Nov. 16, he centred the third line with Aydar Suniev and Carter King.
Some players who will be questionable for this game include William Stromgren and Alex Gallant. Stromgren was last listed as day to day with a lower body injury on Saturday and missed both games over the weekend. Gallant fought in back to back games and was knocked down in his last fight, and did not return to the game. With Morton back and Carter Wilkie still around as an extra skater, they have options that can give Stromgren and Gallant the time away from game-play if they need it.
This game gets going at 8:00 p.m. MT. Streaming options are available for a fee on Flo Hockey and FlamesNation contributors Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
