It has been a busy week of hockey for the Calgary Wranglers and Ontario Reign. Now, they’ll finish up their week with one more game against each other before they wrap up their series early next week. Each team has played on the same nights this week and have had opposite results. The Reign were swept by the Abbotsford Canucks earlier this week then lost to the Henderson Silver Knights on Saturday by a 1-0 decision.
The Wranglers swept the Tucson Roadrunners and beat the San Diego Gulls 6-5 in overtime on Saturday.

Notes and expectations
This game will likely show some fatigue and wear and tear of the week. However, the fresh opponent does give them a clean slate going into this series. Calgary and Ontario have only met once this season with a game back on Dec. 18. The Reign won this match-up with a 2-1 final score.
With Dryden Hunt’s two point night on Saturday, he has worked his way up to a first place tie in AHL scoring. He took over Rory Kerins’ lead in team scoring when Kerins was called up to the Flames and has the opportunity to secure the top spot in the league for himself in this series. Hunt leads the AHL in assists with 26 and goes into this series with 37 points in 37 games he’s played in. Hunt has had a very good year and is on a current five game point streak with eight points in his last five games.
Some other good storylines from the last few games include the successful rotation between Waltteri Ignatjew and Connor Murphy. They’ve stepped in and stepped up while Devin Cooley recovers from a concussion and have been helping this team stay atop the league. Murphy has two wins on the week and Ignatjew has one. They’ve been going one game on, one game off, so we will likely see Igantjew in Sunday’s game and Murphy on Tuesday.
This series starts with a Sunday afternoon match-up and likely a recovery day on Monday before they’re back to game action on Tuesday. Sunday’s game gets going at 4:00 p.m. MT and Tuesday’s game has an 8:00 p.m. MT puck drop. These games will be streamed on Flo Hockey for a fee and multiple FlamesNation contributors will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
