Calgary has something on their roster that’s both great and terrifying.

On one hand, Mark Giordano and T.J. Brodie are one of the National Hockey League’s best defensive pairings. They’re awesome and make everyone around them better.

Unfortunately, the Flames have very little on the blueline beyond their dynamic duo, and that’s the subject of this week’s What Would You Do? Wednesday topic.

How would you fix the Flames blueline?

The Flames are a team with arguably two #1 blueliners. Kris Russell is a solid #4. Dennis Wideman is a #5 or #6 (he’s probably best-suited as a power-play specialist). You could make a case for Raphael Diaz, Tyler Wotherspoon and Deryk Engelland all as #6 or #7 defenders, too.

So how can you fix that? How would you fix that?

Would you rather strengthen the bottom pairing and leave Russell and Wideman together since they seem to have chemistry? Should the Flames flip a pick or prospect of some type to get a right-handed defender to play alongside Russell on the second pairing? Or would you rather stand pat for now and try to work Wotherspoon into the line-up?
