The Stockton Heat will be without arguably their best player for the next week. The club announced on Saturday afternoon that Andrew Mangiapane is temporarily sidelined with a lower body injury.
Mangiapane, 22, is in the third year of his entry-level contract. He’s also in the midst of his third consecutive strong AHL season. He leads Stockton in scoring with 12 points in 11 games and his next AHL point will also be his 100th career AHL point. He has points in eight of the 11 games he’s played and the Stockton offense seems to flow through him.
Mangiapane seemed like the logical player to recall due to Dillon Dube’s injury, but seemingly the mystery of why he didn’t get the call has been solved.
