Prout was originally assigned to the Stockton Heat back on Nov. 20 and was eligible to stay there for up to two weeks. But with injuries to Michael Stone and Juuso Valimaki reducing the big club’s roster flexibility, it made sense to bring up the player with the most NHL experience to be the extra body as a precaution. Prout has dressed for just one NHL game this season, but has 243 big league appearances under his belt in his pro career.
In four games on his conditioning stint Prout had one goal and two assists. According to our AHL correspondent Stockton’s Finest, he played primarily with Rinat Valiev.
