Calgary’s city council voted to move ahead with arena negotiations on Monday evening. Our own Ryan Pike joined Sportsnet 960 The Fan’s Ryan Pinder and Pat Steinberg on Tuesday to chat about the implications of that vote.
There’s obviously a ton of history in and around the arena saga. I whole-heartedly recommend you check out our archives here at FlamesNation on the topic dating back to the unveiling of CalgaryNEXT way, way back in August 2015. (Oh, what a strange journey it’s been…)
In addition, Postmedia’s Meghan Potkins and CBC’s Scott Dippel are invaluable resources for everything Calgary city council-related – arena and otherwise – so give them a follow on Twitter to stay up to date with developments at city hall as they happen.
Finally, the Globe and Mail’s Carrie Tait and Al Maki did a great job examining how things fell apart between the city and the Calgary Flames during the last round of negotiations in 2017.
